Although Mythic's career was fleeting they certainly left their mark on the Metal scene. Far from being a typical girl rock group Mythic employed the trademark guttural growls of Dana Duffey with guitars tuned way down making them probably the most well known of all the female Death-Doom Metal acts. Part Pagan ceremony, part performance art, all sound, this band is unexpected and chilling. Formed in pre-Katrina New Orleans, the doom soul/ drone outfit would continue onto Austin post storm. There the band wrote many of the songs that would later become Scales while living in FEMA delirium on a compound just east of Austin. Next the band would make their way to Kansas City where they were known for elusive, but unhinged shows in an underground scene noted for buried spectacle.
