ANCIENT HISTORY: Three years have passed since “Black Oni” (Ipecac Records). Four years since “Five Suns”(Cuneiform Records). The new album by Guapo is finally here and thus concludes the recondite triptych they set out to accomplish. Flux is not uncommon here, every record taking on new musical hues and offering disparate ideas and perspectives. However an upheaval in the line-up, which of recent years has been anchored by the trio of Daniel O’Sullivan, Matthew Thompson and David Smith, triggered a change in course when Thompson left the band just prior to the release of Black Oni in 2005. Los Guapos was a 4 piece, Crust/Punk/Oi band from Maine. They released a demo and broke up in the spring of 2003. The remaining members went on to form Promise for a Better Tomorrow. .

El Guapo was born as a two-piece in Washington, DC in 1996. Through the years and through various instrument/lineup changes, the band has continually blurred the lines between art-punk and the avant-garde. In the late 90s the band released two records on Resin Records as well as a CD of improvisational works on their own label, Mud Memory in 2000. In 1995 besluiten Erik Willmots en Cedric Maes om samen met Micha en zijn broer Jethro een hardrockband op te richten. Nadat ze hun eerste nummers schreven kregen zij hun eerste show in De Schofaag te Tongeren.
