The son of a woodwind player, Neal himself played the oboe for many years beginning in high school. Schon first picked up the guitar at the age of 10. He joined Santana as a teenage prodigy at the age of 15. Schon had famously been asked by Eric Clapton to join Derek and the Dominos, but decided instead to join Santana for the album Santana III. London Calling was formed in December of 2002 in Evansville, Indiana. London Calling (or "L/C") consists of Jamie Rowe on Vocals and Guitar, Jon Gilbert on Guitar and Piano, Matthew Martin on Bass and Drummer Derek D. Sorrells. London Calling's sound is described as power/hard/explosive pop with some hook laden choruses. They are mainly influenced by Fountains of Wayne, American Hi-Fi, Sugarcult, Lit, Cheap Trick, and The Sweet. After signing with Atenzia Records in 2004, London Calling re-released their 2003 album "New Sensation" with 5 additional songs and packaged as "You're So Lucky" .
