01年11月にミニアルバム「Polaris」でデビュー。強靱なリズム隊が生み出す圧倒的なグルーヴに透明感溢れるボーカルが溶け合うアンサンブル。その音響的なダイナミズム感に溢れたサウンドと日常の喜怒哀楽を写実的に描き出す独特の世界観が彼らの魅力。'02年11月に1stアルバム「Home」 '03年11月に2ndアルバム「Family」をリリース。ブラジリアン・テイストを感じさせる楽曲からプログレッシヴなロックナンバーまで、既存の枠組みにはおさまらない自由な個性を開花させた。 FUJI ROCK FES.ROCK IN JAPAN FES. RISING SUN ROCK FES.と夏の3大フェスを制覇！至福感溢れるライブパフォーマンスにも定評がある。'05年1月には感動と熱狂の奇跡の一夜を収めたDVD「Live at 日比谷野外音楽堂2004/09/25」リリース後、ドラムの坂田学が脱退。新生Polarisとして新編成のドラマーにあらきゆうこを迎え、'05年8月に3rdアルバム「Union」をリリース。新たなアンサンブルに変化しながらも揺るぎないPolarisの世界を造り上げた。オオヤはohana、柏原はフィッシュマンズと個々にも精力的に活動し、新たなファンを獲得。デビュー5周年を記念したベストアルバム「音色」を3月にリリースした。
7月、8月。FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL、ROCK IN JAPAN FESTIVALに出演。 フル・アルバムのレコーディングに着手。サポート・エンジニアは中野正之。
11月フル・アルバム『Home』をリリース。初のワンマン・ツアー。パーティー、continuityをスタート。第一回目は DRY&HEAVYを迎えた。 .

The Trashwomen was an all-female surf garage punk band from the San Francisco Bay Area. Formed in 1991 by neophyte musicians Tina Lucchesi (of Top Ten, and The Bobbyteens,) and Danielle Pimm; and former Eight Ball Scratch gutarist and now mother of artist Kreayshawn, Elka Zolot, the band quickly built a following in the San Francisco garage rock scene. Tina Lucchesi is also the front woman for Tina & The Total Babes – this time in an otherwise male band – who released an album in 2001 on the Sympathy for the Record Industry label. .

1. Polaroid is spanish (or Español) for "Polaroid".
The name "Polaroid" originates from two words that described a preceding relationship with one of the associates of Polaroid. This member dated a gentlewoman that had been diagnosed with a "bipolar disorder" (manic-depressive illness). The particular Polaroid associate endured the illness for months feeling like a robot and/or "droid", in a sense. The Polaroid colleague finally took the words bi-polar and incorporated the word droid and subsequently resulted with this concept we call: "Polaroid".
