Japanese Motors are an alternative rock band which formed in Costa Mesa, California, United States in 2006. They consist of Alex Knost (vocals), Nolan Hall (guitar), Chris Vail (bass) and Andrew Atkinson (drums). Knost is well known as a professional surfer. They are signed to VICE Records. Their self-titled debut album - which includes the single "Single Fins & Safety Pins" - was released on VICE on October 7, 2008. .

Japanese Gumは、3ピースエレクトロニック／アンビエントグループとして2005年の春にイタリアのジェノバで結成された。最初の2年間は3人で活動していたが、第3のメンバーLuigi Bozzoが彼らの音楽をサポートする形で正式なメンバーから外れ、現在は２人組みのユニットとして、Davide CedolinとPaolo Tortoraので活動をしている。 彼らのサウンドは、ディレイ・ギター、エフェクトのかかったボーカル、サイケデリックなエレクトロニックビート、大胆なシンセサウンドなどが織り込まれ、デジタルサウンドの新たなる展開を感じることができる。これを特定の音楽ジャンルとして片付けることは難しく、エレクトロニックを軸として彼らが影響を受けてきた全ての音楽に対する彼らなりのアプローチといえる。その1つとして挙げられるのが、彼らがもっとも影響を受けたと自称するシューゲイザー・サウンドへの回答である。 2007年Japanese Gumは、ファーストEP「Talking. Silently」をイタリアのインディーレーベル”Marsiglia Records”から発売した。その後、彼らの音楽はイタリア国内のみならず、ヨーロッパ各国のプレスやウェブサイトの楽曲レビューにおいて、数々の好意的な評価と賞賛の声を受けた。その後、彼らは自分達のサウンドに対する確信をもって、数多くの場所でライブを行なってきた。その自信が、今回の日本デビューを飾るファースト・アルバム「Hey Folks! Nevermind, We Are All Falling Down」にも表れ、デジタルサウンドの進化も遂げている。確立されたエレクトロニック・スタイルには磨きがかかり、彼ら自身のプログラミング技術も見事なまでに向上した。さらに、そこに深みを増したボーカル・トラックを加えたことで、彼らが考え出したひとつのアイディアが様々な音楽の方向性へと広がり、オーガニックかつシューゲイザーにも通じるサウンドスケープを生み出したのである。 ファースト・アルバム「Hey Folks! Nevermind, We Are All Falling Down」は、2007年から2008年の1年間に渡る試行錯誤の上に制作され、デジタルサウンドの可能性と溢れんばかりのアイディアが体現されている。2008年11月には、3曲入りEP「Without You I'm Napping」をアルバムの先行リリースとして、フリーでデジタル配信した。同EPから唯一今回のアルバムにも収録されている曲“Chrorine Blue”は、本アルバムの代表曲ともいうべきポップでエレクトロニックな楽曲に仕上がっている。 .

This indie rock powerhouse known as Japanese Sunday should be a welcome addition to the San Diego roster of quality bands. Having put together a ten song debut that floats from the eloquence similar to that of EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY to the raucousness of acts like FUGAZI, Japanese Sunday have managed to develop a sound all their own.
