1976年、アメリカ合衆国マサチューセッツ州ボストンにて結成されたロックバンド。 実態はTom Scholzによる作詞作曲、編曲、演奏、レコーディング・エンジニア、総合プロデュースとレコーディング・プロセスのほとんど全てを行ったソロ・プロジェクトである。アメリカ合衆国オハイオ州の出身の彼は7歳からピアノを習い、マサチューセッツ工科大学在学中にギターを独学で覚える。大学卒業後はポラロイド社に就職しプロダクト・エンジニアとなった。仕事の傍ら、電気工学の知識を生かして自宅アパートに多重録音可能なスタジオを構築、そこで作り上げたデモ・テープがCBS Recordsに認められ、デビューの運びとなる。このスタート時点ですでに、Tom Scholz側とレーベル側の思い違いが生じていたという。デモテープを聞いたCBS側の担当者は「現存するあらゆるロック・ミュージック作品の中で、最も素晴らしい作品である」と評価したと言われる。Brad Delpをヴォーカルに迎えて、レーベルの圧力下にて1stアルバム『Boston』を制作、膨大な時間と労力を費やしたミックス作業が功を奏し、Scholz一人による多重録音はビッグバンドであるかのような迫力あるサウンドに仕上がった。シングルカットされた「More Than a Feeling」と共に、アルバムはチャートを駆け上がり、全米3位を獲得し、同年だけで100万枚を売り上げ、現在までに2,500万枚のセールスを記録、アメリカン・ロックの新しい時代を開く歴史的作品となった。1978年、ツアーの合間を縫って慌ただしく制作された2ndアルバム『Don't Look Back』も全米1位の大ヒットを記録する(RIAA:7x Platinum)。本作は各バンドメンバーのクレジットがあり体裁上はバンドの形を取っているが、実際には全てScholzの指示通りプレイされているなど完全にScholzのコントロールが行き届いていた。次作のリリースが待たれる中、完璧主義者のScholzのレコーディング作業はなかなか進まず、ついにはCBS Recordsに契約不履行で訴えられ長期間の法廷闘争に突入、以後、Bonstonは8年に一枚しかスタジオアルバムを出さない超寡作バンド(ユニット)になっていく。一方で、この間、Scholzはロックマン・ブランドのギター・アンプやエフェクターを開発・販売し、音響工学関連の様々な特許を取得した。 法廷闘争が決着しMCA Recordsへ移籍した1986年、3rdアルバム『Third Stage』(RIAA:4x Platinum)を発表、「Amanda」と共に全米1位を記録。以後も相変わらずの悠々自適のペースでアルバムを制作し、1994年に4thアルバム『Walk On』(全米7位)、2002年に5thアルバム『Corporate America』(全米42位)、Brad Delpの自殺を経て10年のブランクを開けて6thアルバム『Life, Love & Hope』(全米37位)をリリース、2016年にはキャリア40周年を迎えた。 全てのアルバムに「No Computers」とクレジットが入っている。「No Synthesizers」のクレジットは『Walk On』で外された。 2009年までに世界で7,500万枚以上のセールスを記録している。 Current members (リーダーはTom Scholz) Tom Scholz – lead and rhythm guitar, bass, keyboards, percussion, backing vocals (1976–present) Gary Pihl – rhythm and lead guitar, keyboards, backing vocals (1985–present) Curly Smith – drums, percussion, harmonica, backing vocals (1994–1997, 2012–present) Jeff Neal – drums, percussion, backing vocals (2002–present) Tommy DeCarlo – lead vocals, keyboards, percussion (2008–present) Tracy Ferrie – bass guitar, backing vocals (2012–present) Beth Cohen – keyboards, vocals, rhythm guitar (2002, 2012, 2015–present)...

The Boston Post was a Canadian alternative band originally comprised of Scott Moffatt, Shawn Everett, and Jon Gant. They formed in 2002 after meeting in Bragg Creek, Alberta, through family friends. Shortly after releasing their would-be lone EP in 2003 (titled 'It's 99PM'), the band enlisted Neal Gupta as a full-time bassist, after previously filling in during studio sessions. Boston Tea Party is a psychedelic 60's band. In spite of the name, these guys were from Burbank, California. Originally formed in 1963, they started out as a surf outfit, but by the mid-'60s had decided to follow popular trends, reinventing themselves as a psych band. Featuring a lineup of brothers Rob (keyboards) and Richard (bass) DePerna, singer Travis Fields, drummer David Novogroski and guitarist Mike Stevens, the group debuted with the 1967 single "Words" b/w "Spinach".
