サーティーン・センシズのメイン・ソングライターであるウィル・サウス（21歳）は、人生の約半分は曲作りをしている。イギリスの最西端、コーンウォールで生まれ育ち、子供の頃から寝るまで歌っていた。小さい頃から驚くべき才能でセンセーショナルなメロディと楽しい歌詞を書いていたウィルは、地元の友人、アダム、トム、ブレンドンと共に、これらの曲を練り上げていった。
約70曲の中から収録曲を選んだというこのアルバムの多くの曲――「スルー・ザ・グラス」「リード・アス」「ドゥ・ノー・ロング」など――は、プレスからもラジオからも大絶賛を受けた。彼らは多くの音楽業界人たちの“マイ・フェイヴァリット・バンド”となり、その名は知れ渡るところとなり、ファンも獲得。そして初のUKツアーに出た。ウィルはこのとき生まれて始めて飛行機に乗ったそうだ。
2004年初頭、NME Britpack Tourに参加し、アメリカのサウス・バイ・サウス・ウェストにも出演。3月にはヘッドライン・ツアー。夏にはキーンやエルボーのツアーのサポート・アクトを務め、フェスティヴァルにも出演。そして9月に『インヴィテーション』をUKリリース。年の後半にはエンブレイス（「イントゥ・ザ・ファイヤー」をラジオで聴いたヴォーカルのダニーは、ウィルの声が頭から離れなくなったという）やシャーラタンズのサポート・アクトを務めた。そしてヘッドライン・ショウをソールド・アウト。2004年の1年間が過ぎて、サーティーン・センシズは“最も有望な”バンドから“まぎれもなく認められた”バンドへと成長を遂げた。
2005年、「スルー・ザ・グラス」がUKで正式シングル・リリースされ、アルバムもTop 20入りを果たし、ゴールド・ステイタスを獲得。彼らのストーリーは始まったばかりである。 .
