SHIN（しん 1978年5月13日 - ） - MC・作詞担当。神奈川県横浜市出身。
DJ GEORGIA（ディージェージョージア 1984年8月20日 - ） - DJ・作曲・ギター担当。広島県三原市出身。
2000年JUNとSHINにより横浜で結成。CLIFF EDGEの名前の由来は日本語で「崖っぷち」。 2003年にDJ GEORGIAが加わり現在のメンバーでの活動を開始。2005年7月に、デビューシングル『季節まかせに羽伸ばして〜秋ist〜』でデビュー。リリースパーティーが行われた会場渋谷WOMBを満員にした。2006年11月には2ndシングル『You’re the only one』を発売、同曲はFMヨコハマの着うたサイト「FヨコSOUND」にてダウンロード数3週連続1位を記録した（2位はSMAP）。
2006年12月13日にリリースされた1stミニアルバム『BIRTH』のリード曲『BIRTH 〜You're the only one Pt.2〜 feat. MAY'S』のPVには、グラビアタレントのほしのあきが出演。ほしのあきの大ファンである本人達からの、直々のアタックにこのコラボレーションが実現した。撮影場所はSHINの母校でもある横浜山手学院で行われ、ほしのあきが作中で着用してる制服も同校のものである。
そして同曲が2007年USEN総合チャート上半期2位、お問い合わせチャート8週連続1位を獲得し、流行に流されない普遍性が話題となり、口コミでじわじわと支持を広げミニアルバム「BIRTH」は、45,000枚を超えるロングセールスを記録。
続いて2007年5月に、MAY'S、SHIKATA、KGらと共に、結成した新ユニットNATURAL8の1stアルバム「GOLDEN SHUFFLE」、続いて2007年11月14日にリリースしたユニットMAY'Sとのスプリットミニアルバム「Dear...」においてもスマッシュヒットを記録。メジャーデビュー前にして、自身の作品と関連作の総累計出荷が10万枚を突破するという快挙を成し遂げた。
2008年5月に、満を持して Venus-B / KING RECORDSより、メジャーデビューアルバム「to You」をリリースし、オリコンアルバムチャート初登場14位にランクイン。10月には、ドラマ&全国東宝系映画ホームレス中学生の主題歌で、天上智喜とのコラボレーションシングル「Here」をリリース。続いて11月にはメッセージ性が存分に詰まった1stシングル「The Way〜目指す明日へ〜」をリリース。
2009年2月14日には、シンガー 詩音を迎えての至高の恋愛ソング「ナミダボシ feat. 詩音」をリリースし、着うた(R)、着うたフル(R)が30万DLを突破し、ロングヒットを記録中の中、6月10日に話題のコラボレーションアーティストも参加した初のミニアルバム「VOYAGE」をリリースする。 .
