There are two different groups called De Vrijbuiters. They are both from The Netherlands and often get mixed up.

1. De Vrijbuiters (1969-1985) was a group from Blerick in the southern Dutch province of Limburg, fronted by singer and songwriter Ben Verdellen. They started out as a party orchestra playing cover material, but became a regional legend when they released two LPs of self-penned popular folk songs, sung in the regional dialect in the early 1980s.

2. De Vrijbuiters (1983-2010) was a trio from the Dutch province of Zuid-Holland, originally consisting of Kees Verkaik, Leo Mudde and bassist Frans Kieboom. Their perhaps best known hit single was 'Rode rozen gaf jij aan mij' (1990), taken from the album of the same name. Kieboom died in 2004, but the remaining band members continued as De Vrijbuiters until Mudde passed away in 2010. .
