doom folk | it

Doom folk is the folk counterpart of doom metal. This sub-genre is usually played on traditional instruments (guitars, strings, horns, woodwinds, to name a few). Doom folk usually combines doom metal with the darker and heavier sounds and folklore of traditional music from many regions and cultures (Appalachian, Andalusian, Balkan, Mediterranean, Andean, Celtic and so forth) with the musicians' own playing style and purpose. The lyrical content when present, like traditional folk, tells a story but depicts urgent, sad and despairing landscapes while using its grim aesthetic as a story telling device. .
