Dashboard Confessional è il nome della band capitanata da Chris Carabba, chitarrista ed autore di canzoni. L'avventura dei Dashboard Confessional inizia nel 1999, come un progetto "a latere" dei Further seems Forever, altra band formata dallo stesso Carabba. Il nome della band è presa da un verso di una canzone di Carabba "The Sharp Hint of New Tears," che, ad un certo punto recita:"On the way home This car hears my confessions.".
