Gli Old Funeral furono un gruppo death metal norvegese di Bergen. Dal momento che iniziarono la loro attività nel 1988 essi furono uno dei primi gruppi a formare la scena estrema norvegese. Nel 1992 il combo era già sciolto ma visto che alcuni dei loro componenti divennero famosi in seguito (come Abbath e Demonaz con gli Immortal e Varg Vikernes con i Burzum) gli Old Funeral divennero famosi da postumi anche se per gli standard odierni il loro stile suona abbastanza banale. Tra i gruppi che li influenzarono c'erano i Carcass e i Morbid Angel. .
A slow, dark and romantic funeral doom project from Iran. Their first album Portrait of a Dream was released in 2005.
The band officially dissolved in winter 2005. 5 years later, 1000 Funerals continued again in autumn 2010 with "Haamoon" from Unperishable Fall and released the album Butterfly Decadence in 2011.
1000 Funerals split up again in summer 2011... forever.
