I Korpiklaani, il cui nome in finlandese significa "clan della foresta" , sono un gruppo folk metal originario di Lahti, Finlandia. Il precedente nome della band era "Shaman", abbandonato nel 2003 con l'intento di distaccarsi dalle canzoni in lingua sami (contenute negli album Idja, 1999, e Shamaniac, 2002) e cominciare a comporre in inglese. È divenuta famosa nel 2009 quando partecipò alla terza edizione del talent show Eesti otsib superstaari (versione estone di Pop Idol) di cui divenne finalista. The band were well known on the UK Hardcore scene for their explosive live shows and straight-edge philosophy. Their first release "Gehenna Made Flesh"on Ignition Records was recorded in 2000 and recieved widespread acclaim in the scene for it's raw energy and brutal breakdowns.
