Gli Epica sono una band symphonic metal proveniente da Reuver, Olanda. La band è nata nel 2002 dall'incontro del chitarrista Mark Jansen (ex After Forever) e di Simone Simons, una giovane mezzosoprano, ai quali si sono aggiunti Jeroen Simons (Cassiopeia) alla batteria, Coen Janssen alle tastiere, Ad Sluijter alla chitarra e Yves Huts (Axamenta) al basso.
