Red Velvet (Hangul: 레드벨벳) is a five-member South Korean girl group formed by S.M. Entertainment in 2014. They made their debut with the digital single "행복 (Happiness)", which was released August 4, 2014. The group originally consisted of four members: Irene (아이린), Seulgi (슬기), Wendy (웬디), and Joy (조이). In March 2015, Yeri (예리) was added to the group.

Il trio originario, The Blue Velvets, costituito da John Fogerty, Cook e Clifford, si forma nel 1959 a El Cerrito, California. Reclutato Tom Fogerty, a metà degli anni '60 la band firma per la Fantasy Records, che cambia il nome del gruppo in The Golliwogs, con riferimento a Golliwog, un pupazzo-menestrello di un libro per bambini. Gli East Of Eden si sono formati nel 1967 e furono pubblicati dalla Decca Records nel 1969. Possono definirsi una coraggiosa avanguardia del cosidetto progressive ecletico o esotico per una musica ricca di influenze jazz, rock, canterbury e blues, il tutto condito con venature hard. La loro particolarità peraltro è l'utilizzo dei cosidetti sassofoni sumeri e la registrazione di nastri al contrario. Ma è soprattutto il violino di Arbus che tiene banco negli Est Of Eden.
