Alberto Muffato inizia a scrivere canzoni nel 2002, dopo aver acquistato un vecchio registratore su musicassetta a 4 piste. Grazie alle prime registrazioni domestiche raccolte nel CD-R autoprodotto “Nel Bambù”, nel 2003 è selezionato tra i tre finalisti del concorso “Progetto Demo” indetto da Rai Radio1. Nello stesso anno inizia a impiegare il moniker artemoltobuffa, dall'anagramma del suo nome, e pubblica “Cocomeri? Split”, ep d'esordio registrato con la formazione romana Carpacho! per l'etichetta aiuola dischi.
