Formatisi tra il 1962 e il 1963 quando Eric Burdon si unì al gruppo Alan Price Rhythm and Blues Combo. Animal Alpha was an alternative rock band from Norway that formed in 2002. The singer Agnete Maria Forfang Kjølsrud wanted to play in a band that already existed. After a while she got a call from Christian Wibe who had a band, but lacked a singer. Thus Animal Alpha was born.

Animals As Leaders è un progetto del chitarrista Tosin Abasi in collaborazione con il chitarrista Javier Reyes e il batterista Navene Koperweis. Il loro primo omonimo album è uscito nel 2009 sotto la Prosthetic Records.
La Prosthetic Records notò Tosin Abasi quando ancora militava nella band metalcore Reflux e gli propose di produrre un album solista. Inizialmente il chitarrista rifiutò, ritenendolo "egoistico e superfluo", ma dopo lo scioglimento della band cambiò idea e decise di accettare l'offerta.
