The Dakotas were formed in Manchester, England, in 1960, the name being suggested by a local promoter who wanted the band to dress up as native American Indians! By early 1963 the Dakotas were now signed to Brian Epstein’s NEMS agency, and, thanks to the success of the Beatles, signed up to EMI records subsidiary label, Parlophone. Billy J Kramer had been friends with John Lennon for some time and John gave the group a demo of a new song, “Do You Want to Know a Secret”, which they perfected whilst working in Hamburg at the Star Club. Dakota Star was formed in 2002 when A&R man, Antonio Ito, of Tearbridge Productions introduced Alan to Tasuku in Tokyo, they decided to try writing a few songs together, took a trip to the sea side and came back with several songs. Chiaki had been doing sessions with Tasuku for a while so it only seemed natural to ask Chiaki to sing on the tracks. Several months later they had a whole album recorded, during which time Antonio had developed the animation, they decided on 2 songs to set to the animation and came up with T-13 and Together Alone....

Shallow North Dakota is a Canadian sludge/noise rock band operating out of the Hamilton, ON area. Formed in the early 1990s, their first CD, Auto Body Crusher was released by Sonic Unyon records in 1994 under the name 'Shallow'. Subsequent reprints appear as 'Shallow North Dakota'. 'Rhinocerous Love,' a split CD/LP with Winnipeg's Kittens, was relaased by No List records in 1996. In 1997, Shallow North Dakotka's second full-length, 'This Apparatus Must Be Earthed' was released by Sonic Unyon on CD and LP. It featured mostly shorter and more focused songs, giving it a running time of around thirty minutes....

Slingshot Dakota is a two-piece indie-punk band from Bethlehem, PA. Carly Comando sings and plays keyboard while Tom Patterson plays drums. They released their newest record, "Dark Hearts", in November of 2012 on Topshelf Records. .
