From Melbourne, Australia, Beaches are Antonia Sellbach (Love of Diagrams) on guitar and vocals, Alison Bolger (Panel of Judges) on guitar and vocals, Ali McCann on guitar and vocals, Gill Tucker (Spider Vomit) on bass and vocals and Karla Way on drums and vocals. Their debut, self-titled album, released in November 2008, 'reflects the shared musical loves of Beaches, from 1960s hit parades to 1970s psychedelia, shoegaze to prog, southern boogie to krautrock.' .

The Beaches can refer to more than one musical group: 1) An all girl indie-rock band from Toronto, Ontario, Canada consisting of Jordan Miller, Kylie Miller, Eliza Enman McDaniel and Leandra Earl. Their first single "Loner" was released in January 2013 with a full EP released on May 28th, 2013. Alex Zhang Hungtai, a Taiwanese-born Canadian lo-fi musician based in Lisbon,Portugal created the project Dirty Beaches in 2005. Like Bo Diddley or minimalist synth provocateurs Suicide, Dirty Beaches’ compositions were not so much stripped down as refined to their essence. Drum loops, Hungtai’s croon, and the yearning melodies draped overtop belie as much a sense of haunting mystery as they do romanticism and wry humour. In November 2014 Alex Zhang Hungtai announced the end of Dirty Beaches.He performed one of his last concerts in GNRation, in Braga, Portugal. He will continue to produce music, possibly under the name Last Lizard....
