Originally begun as a side project to the new defunct Megaptera, the purpose of Negru Voda was to be a more personal and expressive solo outlet for death industrial veteran Peter Nystrom. Compared to the perhaps darker, more layered sound of Megaptera, Negru Voda is stripped down, unrefined, and to the point – old school, true to form, and primitive industrial music heavily influenced by pioneering electronic artists such as Test Dept, SPK, The Klinik, Cabaret Voltaire, Severed Heads, and the like. Negru, by his real name Laurentiu Stan, is the grandson of Johnny Raducanu (one of the most influential & notorious jazz artists in Romania). Born on the 6th of December 1975 in Bucharest, Negru took piano classes for 12 years at George Enescu highschool. Since 1990 he felt attracted by RAP music & culture, things that he still values today. He spent 4 years on the island of Ibiza, participating at almost every major clubbing event in the area, in clubs ranging from Space & Pacha to DC10 & Amnesia.
