U.N.L.V. was the first group signed onto Cash Money Records, nationally more famous for artists such as the Hot Boyz, Juvenile, Baby Gangsta, Lil' Wayne and more. Along with Pimp Daddy, U.N.L.V. helped pioneer a new sound and style of hip-hop in New Orleans, and paved the way for CMR's many later successes. Their first album, 6th & Baronne, is considered to be a classic in Louisiana, although their major claim to fame is the track "Drag Em 'n' Tha River" from Uptown 4 Life where the group disses No Limit Records' rapper Mystikal through a lengthy song. .
THE UNLV WIND ORCHESTRA has received international acclaim for its fresh and creative approach to music making. Performing contemporary repertoire in addition to classical masterworks, the Wind Orchestra at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas has been responsible for commissioning and premiering numerous significant new works by America’s finest young contemporary composers including Eric Whitacre, Wendell Yuponce, Jonathon Newman, Steven Bryant, Jim Bonney, Corey Hirsch, Paul Seitz, Nathan Tanouye and Wataru Hokoyama. In addition, the Wind Orchestra has recently commissioned and premiered new compositions by landmark American contemporary composers Roger Nixon and James Barnes.
