Gyume (Lower Tantric College) is one of the two main Tantric orders within the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism, the other being Gyuto. It was founded in Lhasa in 1440 by one of Jé Tsongkhapa's students, Sherab Senge (1383-1445). Tibetan Buddhist monks chant in a seeming monotone that is rich in overtones. The chants are usually Buddhist scriptures chanted in Tibetan or Pali. .

Ticket for Tibet is an annual Dutch festival that tries to educate people about the traditional Tibetan way of life, and by doing so help in preserving it. In 2008 the musicians Peter Slager and Bas Kennis (Bløf), Anneke van Giersbergen (Agua de Annique), Loten Namling, Bart van der Weide (Racoon), JW Roy, Dennis van Leeuwen (Kane), Jeroen Goossens and Gerard van Maasakkers participated to create a song for the festival, which was published under the name of the festival. 1)The band Tibet evolved from a cover band named Fine Art, based out of Werdohl, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. As Tibet, they initially produced an Indian/East Asian-inspired music featuring prominent sitar and tabla. As they found the Indian instruments difficult to master, they went in a more conventional symphonic progressive rock direction, inspired by Yes, Genesis and Camel.
