Starting with his first solo release in 1984 "Collection 983: Spectral Voyages," Paul has enjoyed a long and diverse career as both an artist and record producer. Since that time, he has produced more than 250 albums in a variety of genres and along with recording partner David Lanz, created three top selling albums for Narada/EMI Records. The Speer Family, (also The Speers) a Southern Gospel family group, was founded in 1921 by George Thomas ("Dad") Speer (1891–1966), his wife Lena Speer ("Mom"), and his sister and brother-in-law Pearl Claborn and Logan Claborn. Within two years, the group had become so successful that George Thomas Speer decided to make the group full-time. Georg Daniel Speer (2 July 1636, Wroclaw, Poland – 5 October 1707, Göppingen, Germany) was a German composer and writer of the Baroque. He published a treatise on music, but also works of fiction. As a composer, Speer for example produced music for trombones. Keyboard miniatures have also survived. He is known for his Sonata No. 29 from Die Bänkelsängerlieder for brass quintet, which is often played at weddings and formal occasions. .
