Le groupe voit le jour en avril 1998, composé de Yamada Masashi au chant, Suganami Eijun à la guitare, Hirabayashi Naoki à la basse et Matsuda Shinji à la batterie. En août 1999, ils participent au FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL, puis sortent leur premier mini-album, Doko e Iku, sur le label indies KANDO-RECORDS. C'est en avril 2000 que sort Yomigaeru Hi, leur second album. Bark Hide and Horn is a four-man rock orchestra hailing from Portland, Oregon. The boys create a full, dynamic sound that, within any song, can shift from soft, haunted folk to loud, raucous blues, with hints of indie-rock, country, gospel, and mariachi escaping in between. Many of their songs are like short stories, with characters lifted from the pages of old National Geographic magazines.
