Rachid was born in Morocco and came on his 7th year to the village of Oudenbosch with his family. Soon hit R interested in the Dutch-language songs by, among others, André Hazes, Frans Bauer, Koos Alberts, Frank Baker, Marco Borsato, etc.

Rachid Taha (né le 18 septembre 1958 à Oran) est un musicien franco-algérien. Sa musique est inspirée par différents styles, tels que le raï, la techno, le rock et le punk.
Il déménagea pour l'Alsace avec ses parents en 1968, puis vécut quelque temps à Lépanges-sur-Vologne. Alors qu'il vivait à Lyon, il rencontra en 1981 Mohammed et Moktar. Ils forment en 1983 le groupe Carte de séjour pronant l'intégration et la tolérance envers les immigrés, et sortent un premier album intitulé Rhoromanie en 1984.
En 1986, Taha a défrayé la chronique en reprenant Douce France, une chanson de Charles Trenet...
