Augustyn Bloch, the composer and organist, was born on 13th of August 1929 in Grudziadz. He was an organ student of Feliks Raczkowski and a composition student of Tadeusz Szeligowski at the National Higher School of Music (nowadays the Academy of Music) in 1950-5 and 1952-9, respectively. In 1947-57, when still a student, Bloch gave organ concerts in Wroclaw, Oliwa and Warsaw. In 1954-77 he had a contract with the Polish Radio Theatre to write music for its plays. Ernest Bloch (24 juillet 1880 à Genève-15 juillet 1959 à Portland dans l'Oregon), est un compositeur américain d'origine suisse. Il étudie le violon, avec notamment Eugène Ysaÿe à Bruxelles et la composition à Francfort-sur-le-Main. Il fut chef d'orchestre à Lausanne avant de s'installer aux USA en 1916, il devient professeur de composition à partir de 1917 à Cleveland, puis à San Francisco où il est directeur du conservatoire entre 1925 et 1930. Il prend la nationalité américaine en 1924. Parmi ses élèves les plus connus, on peut citer George Antheil et Roger Sessions. Son œuvre s'inspire de thèmes hébraïques. .
