Chris Corner est né le 24 Janvier 1974 à Middlesborough, Yorkshire, Angleterre. Dans les années 80, Chris Corner vit toujours à Middlesborough, et y rencontre Liam Howe, originaire de Hartlepool (région de Manchester) en Angleterre. Ils sont adolescents, partagent les mêmes goûts musicaux (Kraftwerk, Afrika Bambaata, Shirley Bassey...) et décident de monter leur propre groupe, Liam étant aux claviers et Chris à la guitare. Ils expérimentent alors énormément en studio et auto-produisent leur 1er ep: "Soul Of Indiscretion". Le duo s'essaye ensuite sous le nom F.R.I.S.K. et sort un single, "Take The Sun Away" en avril 1993, chez Clean Up...
