Started as an experimental music project in Troy, MT during 2009 between friends Chris Balboni and Ben Palmer, A Desolate Calm has evolved into a brooding mix of ambience and post-rock, taking inspiration from artists such as Jakob, Antimatter, and A Silver Mt. Heolstorcald: All Vocals & Lyrics Æðelwulfing: All Instruments Desolate Winds was imagined and formed by Æðelwulfing to create Cold and Atmospheric Black Metal that represents the Cold, Harsh winters of Cumbria, Æðelwulfing then later recruited Heolstorcald to handle vocals because of his distinct vocal style that best represents the sound of Desolate Winds.
