Born in Toronto, Camille was raised in Whitby, Ontario by a mother who played the piano every night and a music encyclopedia for a father. As a child she performed at various events and festivals throughout Ontario and Québec. At age 17, wanting to clear her head of any outside influence while planning her next step she went to Ecuador for a few months on a trip that was to change everything. Camille Howard (b. 29 March 1914, Galveston, Texas; d. 10 March 1993, Los Angeles) was an American R&B pianist and singer. When in California in the 1940s, she became the featured piano player with Roy Milton’s Solid Senders, playing on all their early hits on the Juke Box and then Specialty label, including the seminal “R. M. Blues” in 1946. After that record’s huge success, she featured on more of Milton’s records, occasionally as singer. Camille Sauvage (born 4 April 1910 in Ferrière-la-Petite, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France; died 30 October 1981 in Paris, France) was a jazz clarinetist, orchestra leader and composer of library music for the label Editions Montparnasse 2000.
