Marvin Pentz Gay Jr naît le 2 avril 1939 à Washington, DC. Fils de pasteur, il fréquente régulièrement l'église, où il s'exerce à la musique en chantant et en pratiquant le piano et la batterie. Ainsi la musique est devenue une échappatoire à la vie cauchemardesque qui régne alors dans son foyer (son père le battait régulièrement). Au cours de son adolescence, il intègre plusieurs groupes comme The Rainbows, The Moonglows ou The Marquees. Frankie Gavin (born 1956) is an Irish fiddle and flute player, from Corrandulla, County Galway. He is a founding member of the Irish traditional group Dé Dannan. He is known for playing in the fast and virtuosic Galway regional style. Gavin has recorded and played with many of the best traditional musicians of his generation, and he has recorded many side-projects, including work with Elvis Costello, The Rolling Stones, Keith Richards, Yehudi Menuhin, Stéphane Grappelli and Earl Scruggs.
