Soundgarden est un groupe de rock américain originaire de Seattle. Ils sont considérés comme l'un des quatre groupes de Seattle à avoir défini le style grunge avec Nirvana, Alice in Chains et Pearl Jam au début des années 90. Soundgarden se forme en 1984 sous l'impulsion de Chris Cornell (batterie et chant) et de Hiro Yamamoto (basse). Ils sont rejoints un peu plus tard par Kim Thayil (guitare), un ami de Yamamoto qu'il avait connu lorsqu'il habitait encore l'Illinois.
