A sell-out is a person, band or artist who is willing to lose artistic integrity in exchange for money. This may be achieved through pimping products or even completely revamping ones style. A good example of a pimp of products would be the rapper Common who once insulted Ice Cube for using his craft to market products like St. Ide's on the track "The Bit** in Yoo," and now sells Coca-Cola. An excellent example of an artist who sold out to sell records would be the once popular band Sugar Ray.
Being a sell-out is synonymous with hypocrisy and deceit. .
