En el grupo Children of the Corn él se hacia llamar Murder Mase, rapeando junto a Big L, Cam'ron y Bloodshed. En 1996, firmó con la Bad Boy Records de Puff Daddy. El nombre BAMASELO nace espontáneamente en los primeros ensayos del grupo como un simple dicho que se usaba comúnmente a la hora de empezar cualquier actividad y significaba sencillamente lo que su nombre indica "vamos a hacerlo". Con el paso del tiempo… a medida en que lo hemos "venido haciendo"… el "sentimiento" que tiene el nombre ha potenciado su significado pues refleja un valor muy importante para el grupo: la acción… consideramos que no bastan las palabras pues lo verdaderamente importante son los hechos.
