Descubiertos por Dick Geffrey , promotor de otros grupos como Dynasty o Carrie Lucas, el grupo graba su primer single en 1977, "Uptown Festival", con la Motown, llegando al puesto No. 2 de la Billboard. Más tarde, se incorporó al grupo Jody Watley en el año de 1982 y con el álbum "Friends", llegan al puesto No. 1. También han grabado en solitario, en especial Watley, que ha cosechado tambien inportantes éxitos. Hoy en día, el grupo está disuelto, pero todavía nos hacen disfrutar de sus pegadizos temas y grandes éxitos, como "Night to Remember", "Friends", "Uptown Festival", entre otros....

Maher Shalal Hash Baz is the artistic alter ego of Tori Kudo (工藤冬里), a Japanese naivist composer and musician. The name is taken from Maher-shalal-hash-baz in the Book of Isaiah, and translates roughly as "Hurrying to the spoil, he has made haste to the plunder."
