Dunkel, langsam, sexy. Der Elektro von Digits schleicht sich entspannt und in R’n’B-artiger Manier an und packt dich. Die Musik lässt dabei zu, dass sich dazu auf der Tanzfläche gedreht oder sehr lässig an der Bar gestanden wird. Alt Altman, ursprünglich aus Toronto, lebt jetzt in London und stellt dort seine minimalistischen Hymnen her. So auch sein aktuelles Album „Death & Desire“, benannt nach den beiden großen Freudschen Trieben, welches auf seiner Homepage kostenlos (!) heruntergeladen werden kann. .
Warm Digits is the krautophonic blizzard-wave duo of Andrew Hodson and Steve Jefferis, based either side of the Pennines in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Manchester. Warm Digits make a semi-improvised brew of metronomic rhythms, snowstorm guitar and radiophonic electronics, dual-laptop electro, swathes of no-wave guitar and frantic free jazz drumming, taking their cue from the hypnotic repetition of Neu!, the textural overload of My Bloody Valentine, the glacial otherworldliness of Emeralds, and the sensuous modernity of cosmic disco; there are hints in the mix too of Eno, Giorgio Moroder and Holy Fuck. By the time Dillon Maurer (Intellekt) and Dan Chavez (Dirty Digits) crossed paths at a B-boy battle in 2003, they were due for a come-up. Both were staples in Florida's growing indie Hip-hop community. From Tallahassee, Chavez had for several years been the Urban Music Director at Florida State University's student radio station (WVFS, 89.7) and Program Director for "The Undaground Railroad," a popular local Hip-hop show. Maurer, then a senior at the University of Florida in Gainesville, was actively booking and promoting tour dates for major label Hip-hop artists, as well as performing shows of his own throughout Florida....
