Tsui consists of Mark Kraus and, sometimes, Jeff Patlingrao, Andrew Santospago, Ryan Clancy, Mike Paulo, and/or Arto Payaslian, although Kraus is the central member. After departing Jr. Corduroy, Kraus began recording in various living rooms in New York, Boston and LA. What he recorded would later become the foundation for Tsui. Kraus & co. mostly play around Brooklyn and, while their music is far from brash, demands just as much attention in its delicate, beautiful sound. .

New Age and Smooth Jazz artist Kazu Matsui was born in Tokyo on June 5, 1954. He studied ethnic arts at UCLA after traveling through Europe and India in the mid 1970’s. He went back to Tokyo to teach Educational Theories at Toyoeiwa Woman's University. At the same time, Matsui began his music career with studio sessions that included major players of the day, Danny O'Keefe (1979’s The Global Blues), Ry Cooder (1982's Slide Area) and Joni Mitchell (1985's Dog Eat Dog). Japanese musician, famous bamboo flute player, who likes west coast music... Kazu Matsui is a contemporary bamboo flute player. He started his "Kazu Matsui Project" in 1981. Beside the "Project", he has build up a career in playing the traditional Japanese bamboo flute. He is the husband of Keiko Matsui. He produced several of her jazz fusion albums.
