Kipparikvartetti oli Harry Bergströmin kokoama suomalainen lauluyhtye. Yhtye sai alkunsa vuonna 1950, kun miehiä pyydettiin laulamaan elokuvassa Kaunis Veera eli ballaadi Saimaalta esiintyvien laivamiesten lauluosuudet. Tähän vaikutti elokuvaan musiikin säveltänyt Harry Bergström. Kyseessä oli vain normaali dubbaus-sessio, eikä kukaan ajatellut asiaa sen koommin. Elokuvan suuren suosion myötä katsojat alkoivat kuitenkin kyselemään Kippareiden perään. Aluksi nelikko ei ollut muiden kiireittensä vuoksi edes kovin innokkaita ryhtymään Kippareiksi, mutta lopulta suostuivat. Ensilevy Saimaan valssi tehtiin jo loppukesästä 1950. Ensiensiintyminen yleisön edessä tapahtui Karkkilan Pohjanpirtillä vasta 9. lokakuuta 1951, saavuttaen heti suuren suosion. Helsingissä yhtye nähtiin ensi kertaa seuraavan vuoden helmikuussa.
