His music is influenced by the likes of Duncan Browne, Bon Iver, Elliott Smith, Sufjan Stevens, CSN&Y, Ray LaMontagne, Kid Cudi, Gorillaz, Sigur Ros, and Clarence Ashley. The band started out under the name Holden, and changed shortly after due to another band with the same name from California who sued them.
