Cave In ist eine Alternative-Band aus Methuen, Massachusetts, USA.
Sie wurde 1995 von den Freunden Jay Frechette (Gesang) und Stephen Brodsky (Gesang, Gitarre), die in unmittelbarer Nachbarschaft wohnten, gegründet. Nach und nach stießen dann noch Justin Matthes (Bass), Adam McGrath (Gitarre) und John-Robert Conners (Schlagzeug) zu den beiden. Die ersten Proben der Band fanden im Keller von Jay Frechette's Elternhaus statt.
Im Frühling 1996 veröffentlichten Cave In zusammen mit der befreundeten Band Gambit die Split-CD Cave In / Gambit split 7". Kurz darauf folgten weitere Split-CDs mit den Bands Early Grace und Piebald.
