Grotesque war eine schwedische Death Metal-Band, die in Göteborg, Schweden, im September 1988 durch Wåhlin (Necrolord), Nordgren (Virgintaker) und Lindberg (Goatspell) gegründet wurde. Die Band nahm lediglich ein paar Demos und eine EP auf. Nach dem Ende der Band starteten Lindberg und Svensson die Band At the Gates, während Necrolord seine eigene Band Liers in Wait gründete und sich mehr auf die Schaffung von Artworks für verschiedene Bands wie Dissection und Emperor konzentrierte. Im Jahr 1996 fanden die drei Mitglieder Goatspell, Necrolord, und Offensor wieder zusammen und nahmen zwei Songs für die Veröffentlichung des Albums "In The Embrace Of Evil"...

THE GROTESQUERY was recently formed in early 2009, when musician ROGGA JOHANSSON {PAGANIZER, RIBSPEADER, DEMIURG, BONE GNAWER, & others...} and vocalist KAM LEE {BONE GNAWER - formerly of bands: MANTAS/DEATH, MASSACRE, DENIAL FIEND} started talking just after finishing up work on their Horror/Gore Death Metal band BONE GNAWER's debut album.
