Ursula 1000 is a lounge music project of DJ Alex Gimeno. Gimeno was born in Brooklyn, New York. During his childhood, he and his family moved to Miami Beach where his father, a musician, found steady work. He moved back to Brooklyn in the late 90s. In his youth, Gimeno was exposed to 50s and 60s exotica, world music, bossa nova and merengue music that his parents listened to which deeply influenced him. Schon von kleinauf durchforstete der gebürtige Berliner Moritz Lieberkühn die Plattensammlung seiner älteren Brüder. Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth, Sebadoh, The Smiths und viele andere Bands übten einen magischen Eindruck auf ihn aus und legten den Grundstein für den Entschluss selbst Lieder zu schreiben. Mit Schulfreunden gründet er seine erste Band. Nach der Schulzeit , zog er als Singer-Songwriter durch die Bars und Clubs von Berlin. Hier traf er 2007 seine heutige Frau Anna Roxenholt (New Found Land) und folgte ihr in ihre Heimatstadt Göteborg, Schweden. Die Zürcher Grupper Hertz entstand 1977 aus der Studioband Taxi und konnte als deren Liveversion gelten. Dominique Grandjean und Martin Walder schlossen sich nach der Taxi-Platte "Es isch als gäbs mich nüme me" mit Ronny Amsel und Thomas Wydler zu der Band Hertz zusammen. Die Texte in Deutsch, Französisch, Italienisch und Russisch sind ironisch, distanzierend. Die Musik nimmt Einflüsse von New Wave, Techno und Schlager auf.
