Martin Eden is the fresh moniker of Matthew Cooper, and while you lot probably know him better as Eluvium, there’s very little of Cooper’s charged ambience present on ‘Worker’. Rather this is his chance to get a shot at the IDM mode, and he captures a deeply unfashionable yet inherently enjoyable sound which brings to mind ‘I Care Because You Do’ era Aphex Twin on ‘Worker’ and early Squarepusher on the flipside ‘Mothernails’. It’s endearing stuff, pieced together with an authenticity and clear love for the sounds that’s hard to ignore. Everyone might have forgotten about simple, fuzzy electronic music, so it’s a but of a treat to hear that it’s not dead just yet. .
