There are two different artists who have used this name:

1. Orison is a five piece modern rock act formed in Seattle, Washington. The music is a perfect blend of catchy melodies, thoughtful songwriting and intricate musicianship. Vocalist Jacob McIntyre, originally from Vermont, was attracted to the vibrant Seattle music scene and made the move to pursue his passion. He soon met bassist Scott Boyd and drummer Brandon Thomas via classified ads, and after finding guitarists Cyril Silverman and James McDonald, Orison was formed. Orison is in the process of releasing their debut album, produced by Brent DeRocher at Rogue Island Studios.

2. Five San Francisco Bay instrumentalists take the name Orison from the old-fashioned word for prayer or invocaiton (see Hamlet, III, i). They are: Barry Phillips, Shelley Phillips, William Coulter, Steve Coulter and Anne Cleveland, whose repertoire includes music from both the folk and classical traditions (The Butterfly, Arran Boat Song, The Maids of Mitchelston, The Water Kilpie, Morgan Megan and more), along with original compositions. Their combinations of harp, guitar, cello, oboe, English horn, flute and percussion produce textures of ethereal and poignant beauty. .
