1.King Of Spain are a four piece hailing from Balham, South London. Their much anticipated debut album 'Battleships and Aeroplanes' was released on April 6th 2009 on pioneering Oxford label Shifty Disco. Album track Bacon has been selected by William Ravenscroft (son of the late, great John Peel) as one of his gems of 2008 and has already received airplay on Tom Robinson’s BBC 6 Music show this year.
King Of Spain, who have been together for 3 years, were also featured on ShiftyDisco10, a triple CD compilation album celebrating the Indie label’s tenth birthday back in 2007. They also run 'flux=rad', a regular night at London's legendary 12 Bar Club aimed at showcasing the best in lo-fi/alternative music.

2. Based in Tampa, FL, King of Spain is the solo-project of multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Matt Slate. His debut full-length "Entropy" (out on New Granada Records) features a stirring array of well-crafted songs that tend to lean towards the experimental side (i.e. found sounds, home-made percussion intruments, and unique song structures) while maintaining a certain level of pop-sensibility. Matt Slate has another current project called FACE! It is primarily an outlet for more experimental electro-acoustic work and is influenced by everything from ambient electronica and minimal techno to noise and the early electronic works of artists like Terry Riley and Phil Niblock.
There is another band called King of Spain They play somewhat pedestrian, yet cathy, alternative rock music. Their albums include: Floating on the Bottom, and Normalized. .
