There are at least three projects named EUREKA. 1. Frank Bossert, composer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer performing as EUREKA since 1997. 2. A pop-music project feat. Merenia Gillies from Sydney, Australia using this name for their release Flying. 3. A solo act of William Giacchi, a Portland, Oregon resident. Giacchi also plays guitar and other instruments in the groups Magic Lantern and Super minerals, but with Eureka, he explores mainly minimalist expressions using piano and other instruments. His music has been primarily featured on the Portland underground label Stunned Records.

Frank Bossert is a musician from northern Germany. Having grown up in Hamburg, he has been working on his project EUREKA in his studio for more than a decade now. Under this name Frank has been producing CDs since 1997. Highlights from his albums can be found on major-label compilations next to songs by Clannad, Enya, Loreena McKennitt, Mike Oldfield and other celtic-music celebrities.

The beginning stage of EUREKA albums takes place in the microcosm of the studio, with Frank playing and recording most of the instruments, from his striking guitar to drums, by himself. It is only during the final stage of a CD production when guest musicians join in, adding yet another level with their rather exotic instruments and vocal performances.

The current studio work „The Compass Rose”, too, was a collaboration of nearly a dozen different musicians. This way, musical adventures arise, when flamenco guitars meet celtic flutes, Landsknecht drums arrange grooving races and keyboards melt with oriental percussion instruments, forming soundscapes rarely ever heard before. But the most important instrument in EUREKA is the guitar. Frank’s colourful, lyrical playing is the key to the unmistakable sound of EUREKA.

Frank has just finished the work on the most exciting project his career has seen so far – "Shackleton's Voyage" is a concept album dealing with Ernest Shackleton's Antarctic voyage on the 'Endurance'. The album is out in the shops in June 2009 distributed by InsideOut/SPV. Featuring guest musicians Billy Sherwood (ex-Yes, World Trade, CIRCA:), Troy Donockley (Iona, Nightwish, Mostly Autumn), Yogi Lang (RPWL) and a great artwork/booklet with impressive photographs taken by Frank Hurley.
