Datashock is a ritualistic "neo-hippie-spook-folk" collective from Saarlouis, Germany. There is no constant lineup, as the group is joined by new members every now and then. Their music is defined almost entirely by psychedelic multidimensional live-improvisations stemming from 70ies krautrock influenced by contemporary electronic music and psychotic dronescapes. As a result we find complex layers of sultry muffled vibrations met by heavy waves of electronic sound experiments and strangely disfigured images. Here and there reality-distorting bits of whispers and cut-up voices are woven into the texture of these alien patterns of sound. Every step here is like nervously stumbling through...
"Imagine a smorgasbord of Cab Calloway, circus sideshow, KISS, cabaret, Hee Haw and Robert Johnson served up at Andy Kaufman's bat-mitzvah. A joyous mixture of the absurd and sublime, the eight-piece ensemble gracefully blends a musical amalgam of Hokum Blues, Hillbilly Swing, Country and Hot Jazz." - Stephen Ceresia, Devoted Fan White Ghost Shivers won best "Novelty" band at the 2007 Austin Music Awards, and placed in six other categories, including best Jazz, Bluegrass, Experimental, None of the Above, Female Vocals(Cella Blue), and Horns(Jonathan Doyle). Coyote Shivers played guitar in the instrumental rock band Sharkskin (eventually releasing three EPs, and the "Greatest Hits" CD compilation) before moving to Los Angeles with famed record producer Daniel Lanois (U2, Bob Dylan, etc.), who later would produce Coyote's...
Mass Shivers are a psych-punk-what-have-you power trio from Chicago, Illinois. Over the last 6 years their style has varied from that of Red Krayola-esque, Reichian-meets-hardcore implied rock to rhythm heavy double drum and twin guitar deliverance to quite tight and slamming traditional power trio finesse in the vein of Groundhogs, ZZ Top, Rush, and The Minutemen. To date, they have released albums and contributed tracks to various comps on the Sickroom (US) and Pickled Egg (UK) labels, as well as a smattering of limited vinyl-only and CD-R releases on their own Licking River Records. .
