There are at least six bands named Tyranny: 1) Tyranny is a Finnish funeral doom metal band. As of 2006, they have released an EP entitled Bleak Vistae and an LP entitled Tides of Awakening. Tyranny of Hours is a Power- Progressive band based out of the Northwest United States. Going against the grain of the local music scene (primarily indy-rock, post grunge, blues and tribute bands), they united their influences of fusion and progressive rock with European metal to create their own brand of music. Blue Gene Tyranny is an avant-garde keyboardist and composer whose varied genre-bending work has been appearing since the mid 1970’s. He has recorded for the Lovely Music (http://www.last.fm/label/Lovely+Music+Ltd/)label, and has been responsible for the music in a number of musical plays/performance pieces, the latest of which is “Flip Side”, which premieres in October at Smith College, Northampton MA.
