Sawyer Brown is a country music band formed in 1981 at a Pizza Hut restaurant in Apopka, Florida. Lead singer Mark Miller asked keyboardist Gregg "Hobie" Hubbard to play piano for a couple of songs he had written. The two left for Nashville, Tennessee, where they met up with Florida drummer Joe Smyth, Michigan bass player Jim Scholten and original lead guitarist Bobby Randall. Ray Sawyer (Chickasaw, Alabama, 1 February 1937 - 28 December 2018) was an American singer best known as a singer with the 1970s rock band, Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show. He released the solo singles "Rockin' Satellite" in 1960 and "I'm Gonna Leave" in 1962 for the Sandy label in Mobile, Alabama. Sawyer also cut a self-titled solo country album on Capitol in 1977, that was launched with the single "Daddy's Little Girl". Sawyer were a group originally formed in Fife, Scotland around 1990 or 1991 by John Mackie (vocals), Andrew Hunter (bass), Alan Findlay (drums) & Iain H (guitar). With this line-up they recorded a double 7inch single for Human Condition Records of Edinburgh, operated by Jamie Watson (of Chamber Studios). After a line-up change, replacing Andrew Hunter with Alan Wilson on bass and adding Derek Anderson on guitar, Sawyer recorded an album called 'On The Seven', also released on Human Condition.
