Arctic Monkeys est un groupe de rock indépendant anglais, originaire de Sheffield, Angleterre et formé en 2002. Il est composé de Alex Turner au chant et à la guitare, de Jamie Cook à la guitare, de Nick O'Malley à la basse et de Matt Helders à la batterie. A Noël 2001, Alex Turner reçoit pour cadeau une guitare électrique. Il décide alors de réunir ses amis et de fonder un groupe de rock. Dès les premiers concerts, leur énergie transcende la foule. Playing for Change est un projet musical multimedia qui met en scène des musiciens des quatre coins du monde pour diffuser un message de paix. En mars 2005, Mark Johnson, ingénieur du son et réalisateur, filme le guitariste et chanteur Roger Ridley dans les rues de Los Angeles, interprétant Stand by me. Il décide alors d'ajouter d'autres musiciens à cette même chanson, en superposant leur interprétation à celle de Roger Ridley. There are several artists called CHANGES: 1) American folk band formed in 1969 by cousins Robert N. Taylor and Nicholas Tesluk. Their music incorporates virtuoso, folkish acoustic guitar riffs and english ballad-like vocals. Changes saw three distinct periods with rotating band members before their contemporary incarnation. The Plague Monkeys are a four piece band from Dublin, Ireland. They are Carol Keogh (vocals), Donal O' Mahony (guitars, keyboards and mandolin), Barry Roden (bass) and Thomas Haugh (drums, percussion and keyboard). They formed in December 1995, and released an independent demo EP "People And Machinery" just before the New Year. The musical world inhabited by The Plague Monkeys is the same evocative place that one might find, say a Mazzy Star or Mary Margaret O'Hara. Try to imagine The Velvet Underground jamming with the Cocteau Twins and you begin to get an impression of this group. .
