Jeanette, de son vrai nom Janette Anne Dimech (née le 10 octobre 1951 à Londres, Royaume-Uni), est une chanteuse espagnole, de mère canarienne et de père belgo-congolais d'origine maltaise. Hors d'Espagne, elle est principalement connue pour avoir interprété le titre Porque te vas dans les années 1970. Après une enfance passée en Californie, elle arrive à Barcelone en 1963. Jeanette started her music career by playing the piano at the age of seven and the saxophone at ten. She immediately connected with the sax and soon realized that people enjoyed hearing her play. While at Roosevelt High School in Fresno, CA; she was the lead alto and played in the jazz, Latin and marching bands. She also kept her love for piano alive by accepting and invitation in her junior year of high school to play in the Fresno City College Latin Band, where she would play until graduating high school. Originally from New York City, Seattle has been her home since 1990. Jeanette began to compose music in the 80 s and began to develop what is uniquely her own style of music. "The kind of music I write is a reaction, I think, to the hectic lifestyle that is so much a part of New York City . In New York, there is so much noise."
